Racial Justice Statement - Adopted by the NILA Board on 6/26/2020
The Nebraska International Languages Association (NILA) proudly stands with educators and other community allies here in Nebraska and around the world who are committed to creating a world free of racism. Together with the National Education Association (NEA), the American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), and the Joint National Council for Languages (JNCL) we believe that we have a role to play in confronting racial injustice. Black Lives Matter. We not only condemn violence against black, indigenous and all communities of color in Nebraska, across the United States and around the world: we believe language teachers must act as agents of antiracism in our classrooms and our communities.
NILA encourages language teachers across Nebraska to listen, to learn and to advocate.
